What is Red-dash?
Red-dash is a credit card that also functions as a link to your secure
online personal health information. The red dashes around all edges of the
card make it easily recognized.
How can Red-dash help me?
In an emergency, your Red-dash card can identify you, provide important medical
information and list family and physician contacts you’d like to be notified by
emergency personnel.
Improved Emergency Care
Carrying a Red-dash credit card increases the likelihood that medical personnel
will provide more efficient and accurate care, with less chance for a missed diagnosis
or allergic drug reaction.
Peace-of-Mind
If you carry a Red-dash card, it is much more likely that your close family members
will be notified of your emergency much sooner. And if your children or parents
carry a Red-dash card, you are more likely to find out about their emergency quickly.
How does it work in an emergency?
Your Red-dash credit card is linked to your secure online Red-dash Personal Health
Record (PHR) that you have set up, and for which you have complete control over.
From that full PHR, you pre-select exactly what you want your emergency information
should include such as who you are, any allergies, current medications,
important medical history and, of course, all your important family and physician
names and phone numbers.
In an emergency, your Red-dash card can work in two ways:
- Emergency Medical Service responders – such as ambulance or fire
department - can text from their phone to Red-dash’s 5-digit text number by typing
your Red-dash credit card number and cardholder name along with their pre-assigned
security code. Red-dash will send back a reply text with your basic emergency
information.
- Hospital Emergency Room providers – such as nurses and physicians
- can login into www.red-dash.com using their
pre-assigned password. They simply enter your Red-dash credit card number
and cardholder name to see your emergency record that you created online.
What does Red dash cost?
Your basic Red-dash card membership is paid for by your credit card
company as a value-added service to you, free of charge. Additional family
members that also carry credit cards can be added also free of charge.
Some future optional services and products may incur charges.
How do I set up my account?
3 Simple steps.
- Register your Red-dash
credit at www.red-dash.com when it arrives in your mail.
- Input your basic
personal and healthcare information into easy-to-read screens. Decide which
information should be displayed in an “emergency.”
- Carry your Red-dash
credit with you at all times.
Who is authorized to see my online personal health information?
There are only 2 “views” into your Red-dash records:
- An “emergency” view is accessible only by emergency providers and
facilities that have been pre-authorized by Red-dash and have their own login names
and passwords. Remember, you have full control over what’s in your “emergency”
view and you can change it at any time.
- A “complete” view is accessible only by using your unique login
name and password. This provides full entry, edit and delete capabilities
for your entire Personal Health Record (PHR).
What if I am healthy?
Even if you are healthy, Red-dash can help you in many ways:
- It is helpful for emergency medical personnel to know that you have NO known medical
issues, are taking NO medications or have NO known allergies, as it might save them
time in making a diagnosis or beginning treatment.
- It is more likely that family and personal contacts will be notified more quickly
in an emergency if you carry a Red-dash card than the average reported time of about
6 hours or more.
- You can begin creating your own personal health record (PHR) that is fully under
your control as long as you remain a Red-dash member. Just like you might
already do for your financial information – using Quicken or other programs – it’s
time for you to begin keeping track of your own health information.
- Red-dash rewards program might just save you lots of money by applying your earned
credit card points towards your prescription payments and by offering you other
future money savings offers.
What if I lose or change my credit card?
Of course, immediately call your credit card company to prevent fraudulent charges
and to send you a new card.
When it arrives, simply log into Red-dash.com with your personal login name and
password and update your Red-dash account with the new card information.
Don’t worry about someone getting access to your PHR information. Since only
pre-authorized emergency providers and facilities can get access to your Red-dash
emergency information, a stolen or lost card cannot be used by others to view your
personal or healthcare information. Plus, we keep track of all access attempts
to view your records and will notify you of all transactions.
Who keeps my PHR up to date?
You are responsible to keep your health records as up to date as possible.
Just login to your Red-dash account anytime and follow our easy to use screens.
You can print out a PHR summary and bring to your doctor’s visit for confirmation
and ideas for updates.
How is Red-dash different from other medical ID’s?
No extra card to carry. No ID bracelet or necklace to wear.
Instead of wearing special ID jewelry or carrying a separate health information
card or tag with you at all times, Red-dash uses what’s already in your wallet -
a credit card – to be the link to your personal healthcare record (PHR)
stored securely online.
Secure without needing your password.
Most health record cards require you to carry or remember your password, but that
is difficult if not impossible in a medical emergency. Some cards require
your password to be printed or carried in your wallet, but that could lead to medical
or identity theft if your wallet is misplaced or stolen. Red-dash works without
requiring your password because we pre-authorize emergency providers and then require
their login password before any of your information is provided to them. This
process may save your life in an emergency when you are unable to communicate and
also protects you in the event that your card is lost or stolen. Only pre-authorized
emergency personnel can view your information.
Full control of who sees your records.
With Red-dash, you can be assured that you have full control over who can see what
information. In an emergency, we show only that PHR information that you pre-chose
to share with emergency providers.
We don’t sell your data to anyone.
No third-party selling of your personal data. No open sharing of your PHR
with your employer, insurance company or marketers. Just your records, your
way.
Free and Private.
Unlike most other health record cards or medical ID products, your Red-dash card
is a value-added service provided to you free-of-charge by your credit card company
as a way of thanking you for being a loyal customer.
Your Personal Health Record (PHR) is maintained only by Red-dash with access only
as described above. Your credit card company has no access to any of your PHR
information.
Is Red-dash good for families?
Peace of Mind for parents of children and children of older parents.
The Red-dash web site is designed for families who wish to manage multiple Red-dash
cards together. You can register cards and enter health information for yourself,
your spouse and your older parents all in a single account without requiring the
others to do so themselves. This way, you can make sure their health records,
conditions and medications are up to date and you can have the peace of mind that
your contact information can be viewed if they are in a medical emergency.
Likewise, you may wish to register Red-dash cards for your adult children who are
away at college or living in another city, so that your contact information will
be made available to medical personnel should an emergency occur.
How can Red-dash be used when I travel?
Great for travel – healthcare, passport and related documents.
Red-dash allows you to fax or upload not just important medical reports, but personal
documents that you might want copies of at a later time. The process is simple,
right from your home or office. Our easy to use filing system keeps these
documents organized the way you want them filed. Access to these documents
is controlled by you through your own personal login and password. You can
view and even print copies of your documents from anywhere in the world 24/7 through
a secure internet connection.
